What are the National Training / Traineeship Awards?

The NSW Training Awards are conducted annually by the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) to recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector. The Awards honour and reward the achievements of students, teachers, training organisations, employers and small business.

Entries into the each years Training Awards closed in May of the following year

Winners in all categories are announced at the NSW Training Awards Presentation Dinner..

NSW winners* will then compete with winners from all states and territories for the Australian Training Awards.(*except the Vocational School Student of the Year and the Minister's Award for a VET in Schools Teacher which are NSW-only categories.)

The twelve Awards categories are:

the student awards are:
  • NSW Apprentice of the Year
  • NSW Trainee of the Year
  • NSW Vocational Student of the Year
  • NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year

    the VET in schools awards are:
  • NSW Vocational School Student of the Year
  • Minister's Award for a VET in Schools Teacher
  • NSW VET in Schools Excellence Award

    the organisation awards are:
  • NSW Large Training Provider of the Year
  • NSW Small Training Provider of the Year
  • NSW Training Initiative Award
  • NSW Employer of the Year
  • NSW Small Business of the Year
